Renovation of rooms NH Hotel Groningen
For the renovation of 103 hotel rooms and corridors in NH Hotel Groningen, we produced and supplied the skirting boards and curtain coves. Contractor Lont was instructed to work efficiently and with minimum inconvenience to guests, as the hotel would remain open during the renovation. This called for a smart approach, with half of one floor remaining in use each time and only the other half being renovated. Alle Jacob, work planner at Lont, says: ‘A challenging project in terms of logistics and planning. However, Wiggers was quickly chosen as the supplier. We have worked together before, and it always goes well.’
Logistical challenges and efficient delivery
The curtain coves and skirting boards are nearly 5 metres long, so they do not fit through the stairwell or into the lift. There is hardly any storage space available in the hotel, so all deliveries must be well coordinated so as not to cause any inconvenience to hotel guests. This logistical process is carefully thought out. All Jacob: ‘Wiggers produced all the required products and then delivered them on steel crates to a removal company, which acts as an intermediate hub. This allows each delivery to be made precisely on time and in small quantities.’
Special colour and finish for durable use
For the finish of the skirting boards, the client wanted a specific NCS colour. Since so many linear metres were involved, we had this film developed in the right NCS colour. Alle Jacob: ‘Fewer metres were needed for the corridors. In this case, Wiggers delivered the skirting boards with a primer foil to the painter, who then coloured them. Wiggers also arranged the logistics process to get the products from the painter to the hub.’
To protect the vulnerable corners of the skirting boards from intensive use, by rolling suitcases, for example, metal corner profiles were fitted. These are neatly coated in the same colour as the skirting boards, so they hardly stand out. Alle Jacob: ‘Wiggers was involved with us regarding details like these and always responds immediately. If they say something will be taken care of, you can really rely on that.’
